What is Brow Lamination?
You’ve heard the hype—brow lamination is all the rage right now,but do you know what it is? Brow lamination is the process of perming eyebrow hairs to stay in a desired shape. It restructures the eyebrows with a set, uniform shape so they stay in place for an extended period of time. It is also referred to as brow sculpting or brow lifting and can be done as an alternative to, or in combination with, microblading.
Can you imagine your brow game being so on point that you don’t feel the need to apply any makeup to them? Brow lamination can do exactly that!
With so much excitement surrounding the subject, it is no surprise that Elleebana, the industry leader in Lash Lifting supplies, has decided to chime in. Elleebana’s own Otto Mitter recently released a video explaining his thoughts about the procedure, and the possibility of Elleebana producing a brow lamination formula of their own.
Elleebana’s Brow Lamination
In an official video released by the Elleebana HQ in Australia, Otto reports that brow lamination, having been around for many years, is rapidly coming back into style. He states that he is being contacted on the regular by stylists with high hopes of an Elleebana Brow Lamination Formula being released.
Keeping Up The Brand Standard
When it comes to Elleebana, there is one thing that remains constant with all of their released products: Premium Quality! From lash lifting formulas to lash extension adhesives, Elleebana keeps the bar set high, and is constantly aiming to surpass the standards set by other products on the market.
Research, Research, Research!
In Elleebana’s video, Otto dives deep into the research process that Brow Lamination products would require. From the sound of things, Elleebana has put some thought into what it would take to formulate a brow lamination product! Does this mean that we will be seeing it on the market soon?
Brow Lamination VS Lash Lifting Formula
We know you are thinking it: Why can’t you just use your Elleebana lash lift serum to perform a brow lamination? In his video, Otto addresses that very question. Spoiler: In the long run, it all comes down to safety.
In lash lifting formulas, there is a maximum concentration of 11% of the active perming agent.
Elleebana’s lash lifting formula sits at 9% active perming agent and has undergone extensive testing to ensure the safety of use and consistent results.
Converting the Formulas
With the rise in popularity, many companies are adapting their lash lifting formulas into brow lamination formulas, which begs the question: What is the difference in the formulas? Otto explains that it is the concentration of the perming and alkalizing agents. Perming agent concentration for lash lifting formulas is allowed to reach up to 11% while brow lamination products are only safe to use with 5% concentration. Alkalizing agents are useful for lash lifting results, but they can easily irritate the skin.
Otto explains that on the PH scale, skin tends to sit at about 4.5 to 5.5. Elleebana lash lifting formula sits at an 8 to 9. Because of this, the lash lifting formula can become irritating to the skin. Otto hints at the possibility of Elleebana researching how to overcome the issue of PH balances and formulate a brow laminating product.
It is important to note the difference in the placement of products when performing a lash lift versus a brow lamination. During a lash lift, the perming solutions should never come in contact with the skin. Therefore, it is safe to have a higher concentration of the perming agent in the formula. It is also safe to have an alkalizing agent without fear of the formula irritating the skin.
On the other hand, when performing a brow lamination the formula will almost certainly come in contact with the skin. The difference of placement during the two treatments is the main reason that Elleebana does not recommend using their lash lifting formulas as a brow lamination agent.
Will Elleebana Begin Offering Brow Lamination Products?
With the release of this video, Elleebana left the beauty industry aching for answers. In Elleebana’s video, Otto states:
“We have done a lot of research and lots of testing and we do want to provide the best innovative solutions for our clients and our customers, but it’s really important that anything we do has a lot of integrity and it works and we minimize the chance of issues because we don’t want our clients having issues… That’s really important. We want the brand to have a great reputation.”
Does this mean that we will be seeing Elleebana brow lamination products on the market soon? Check out the video and decide for yourself!
